The Darien Running Club was founded in 1997 through the YWCA Newcomer’s Club. The Running Club is now open to all YWCA members and non-members. We welcome new runners to join us for a workout before signing up.

The Running Club offers a weekly coached track workout using New Canaan High School track and the adjacent Waveny Park.

Tuesday Workouts

Coach times runners

Workouts encompass all levels of runners from beginner to advanced competitors. Emphasis is on running faster and individual development through teamwork. We work hard but have fun!

We meet all year round on Tuesdays from 9:20 to 10:30am.

Sessions are conducted in all weather--rain, snow , sleet or hot sunshine.

No registration is needed. A nominal fee may be charged --but come and try the workout first.

In addition to regular workouts we organize many social gatherings throughout the year. Some members also compete in the numerous road races in Fairfield County and beyond. We are a very supportive group in helping each other achieve our goals.

We look forward to seeing you!

We meet (in the upper section of lots in the lot closest to South Avenue) at 9:20 for warm-up and the workout will begin at 9:30, either on the trails of Waveny Park, or we will proceed to the high school track.

Thursday Casual Runs

Run at Pear Tree Point
Some runners also meet Thursday mornings at Pear Tree Point beach for a casual run at 9:30 a.m. Various distances run at conversational pace. All levels welcome. No registration required.
